Adult Classes

(beginners, intermediate) Classes meet once a week for 2 hours and are offered in a continuing 4 week series. Since there is only one adult class, arrangements can be made in advance at sign up to accomodate for vacations. No makeups for any missed classes after sign up for 4 week session.

Drawing - An approach to art as an expressive gesture. Develop a new way of seeing and have confidence in your ability to create. The beginner is introduced to problems of perspective, composition, light values and contour drawing. This course is helpful to those with limited drawing experience; and for the more experienced artist, a chance to expand technique and aesthetic judgement.

Painting -(Oil or Acrylic) - This course teaches you the basic elements of painting and art. Learn how to stretch and prepare the canvas, mix and apply the paint. Develop your understanding of expression, design and pictorial composition while painting from nature, still life, figure, photo reference and imagination.

Watercolor - This is a translucent medium that sinks into the fibre of a sheet of paper releasing the light from the surface. Through the freshness of works on paper in watercolor, ink and other water media, students create images from still life, nature and their imaginations. This course is suitable for those with little or no experience.

Continuing painting - Paint in the medium of your choice (oils, acrylic or watercolor). Emphasis is on individual expression and development of personal ideas. Learning advanced techniques enhances the students interpretive ability while painting from still life, nature or imagination. This course is suitable for intermediate through advanced students.

Illustration - Learn the different illustration techniques used today. Develop your own style. Work in such diverse mediums as acrylics, watercolors, oils, pen & ink, gouache and pencil. Discover how images are used to convey specific information or feeling. This course is suitable for intermediate through advanced students.
